When beautiful things are bestowed upon you, hold on tight.  Provide the utmost care for that which you adore.

 

This chillum (a traditional pipe from India) was made by a fan of mine (thanks Randy). Contrary to some of my other chillum, it is not intricately adorned nor masterfully painted.  Rather its smooth,  unassuming, slate grey surface beckons me with its simplicity.

 

As a work of functional art, I can sincerely appreciate its quiet dignity and unfailing function.
