Like Prince crooned, you get better with time…
Well, sometimes! Aging isn’t a guarantee of improvement, but there’s quite a bit of hash that gets better with age.
This Superboof hashish made in collaboration with Sweetgrass Botanicals in the Berkshires is one year old, and still just as shiny, beautiful, and melty as it was when it was fresh.
I’ve always adored Superboof for its high citrus funk. I know some people may be tired of it, but that flavor has been fantastic for me.
One year later, the flavor has changed somewhat. The citrus is still there, but it’s not nearly as irritating on my throat. I suspect some of the more volatile monoterpenes have dissipated or transformed over time, mellowing out the whole experience. It is somewhat more tension-releasing than before, but thankfully without couch lock to trigger my narcolepsy.
This is nowhere near the almost 30-year-old Afghani hash I’ve experienced thanks to Maria Marimbera, but it’s another reminder that some hash ages beautifully.
