Chillin’ with the Chillum Family in Milan

In 2016, in the cozy confines of La Kalada, I fell in love with Chillum. In 2026, inside the historic Torchiera, I found my place in the most loving Chillum family. Tucked away behind its walls, we had the freedom to be the artists, creatives, obsessives, and specialists we are.

The beauty of the art stole our breath. The thick blue smoke enveloped us and wrapped us tighter with each inhale. The family’s energy was comforting and strong.

The love was EVERYWHERE.

Thanks to the kindness oh Homa and Nicole (you know who you are) I was able to experience this historic moment.

By Day two and I started with a fear of two lost Chillum-my Alverman and my Daniele and the Chillum Community really rallying around, making me feel better, and of course Alverman locating the chillum which were left (by me) in his area. Every moment after that felt like a cause for a celebration.

Over the course of 17 hours (time flies when you are capturing history and having fun), I conducted several interviews with chillum makers learning so much about their motivations, their processes, and why they continue to do what they do.
