Bronze will never be mistaken for gold

AUGUST 24

2018

Slice of 73 and 45 micronJust as in life, the difference between gold and bronze will eventually become apparent.  Earlier this year when placed on a tray, the 45 micron resin mistakenly ran into the 73 micron resin. After taking a turn in the freeze dryer, the line of demarcation was clear. The 73 micron hash (on the left) is markedly lighter in color and with little to no contaminant.  On the right is the 45 micron which had a slightly pinkish hue when wet.  I dabbed both and the 7 micron was definitely a 5.5* and the 45 a respectable 4…perfect for my giant O-O Joints.

Hands-on Education

May 13, 2021 - Shout-out to @budwisett for making the long trip to get hands on, one-on-one hash education. Many thanks to this @pelle_polare thermal jacket keeping the ice water insulated in my tried and true machine. Great appreciation to @icextractequipment for...

Dank for Dankness Sake

NOVEMBER 26 2017   Dank for the sake of dankness...because the sun shines with no apologies to the clouds. I walked into this hashmaking game totally fresh faced and a bit reluctantly, but I definitely wanted the opportunity to write for a magazine I had read for...

Sour Split Autobuddered

29 MARCH, 2017 This is a curious post on which to start blogging, but one has to start somewhere.  This picture depicts heaven on parchment.  Actually, I would say that about any hash or hash rosin over a 8.5 (on a 10 point scale), so don't take my effusiveness quite...

Gelato and Sour Tangie Hashish

OCTOBER 02 2017 Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of teaching an exclusive hash class at @greenflowermedia‘s studio.  I had most of my tools and instruments n hand. At its core, hash making is fairly rudimentary – cannabis, buckets, sieving screens, water and ice....

Hell yes for the Holy Headband Hash Rosin

13 JUNE, 2017 Running behind, but Hashish must be made into Rosin Time is ticking and I feel a bead of sweat pearl on my brow.  Clad in a grey suit dress, I am ready to make my way to the NCIA Cannabiz Summit in downtown Oakland.  However, as a concentrates producer...

Why Did This Bubblehash Nucleate?

APRIL 172019This is nucleated bubblehash. How did it get this way? Taking into consideration that resin has MUCH variety, these are the reasons you generally see for initially very shiny pressed hash that later becomes matte.   1. There is a little (or a lot of)...

Cannabis Now Article Thrills Me for Days

OCTOBER 03 2017 I am not going to lie...I am excited for all of the amazing days to come.  I woke up yesterday to see this absolutely beautifully written articie about...Me!  My garden, filled with Spanish and Mendocino genetics was featured on the Cannabis Now...

It has been a while, but things were in the works

I must admit that I did not build out this section of my website as I had planned.  However, I remember every single detail of what happened along the way of getting my first large(r) outdoor garden going.  This past summer, I grew the following cultivars: Holy...

Why Won’t My Kief Press into Templeballs?

FEBRUARY 4 2019 You love weed and you use just one special grinder to make your joints. You have been been disciplined and you have never taken the kief out of the bottom of your grinder. You know that this is precious resin that can be made into pressed hash. But...

Cannabis Lasagna

SEPTEMBER 05 2017 As soon as I got back to California, I made use of the freedoms we have here. I love that I can eat my plants as well as grow them. Today I had the last of my weed lasagna.😞 I really wish I had more 😣.  Making the lasagna was wonderful as I love to...

Making Good Hash Rosin = Life

NOVEMBER 27 2017 I strive to approach life like making good hash rosin; moving methodically with consistent purpose and always putting my best fot forward.  Details like filling the bag to the edges and the method of folding parchment paper really do matter and make...

Where is the sweet spot for full melt?

MAY 31 2019 Holding fast to preconceived notions will result in missing some gems.   We hashmakers all "know" where to find the sweet spot where trichomes have the best representation of the plant at that moment both in flavor, melt.  Certainly the spot is found in...

My cannabis plants are chilly and I need to be patient

03 JUNE, 2017 It's the first week in June and this is when everyone in the Bay is putting their cannabis plants outside to enjoy the bountiful sunlight.  I put my plants out a few weeks ago.  Acclimating is taking a little longer than I would like.  The plants are...

OCTOBER 23 2018 Whether you are processing fresh frozen,  fresh,  or cured material for bubble hash, as a hashmaker, you are always seeking oil-filled heads.   Bubble hashmaking is the efficient collection of trichome heads. Cannabis plants harvested at the peak of...

Trash into cash? Not so much…

05 JUNE, 2017 When people first starting paying attention to cannabis concentrates, one of the mantras was, “turn trash into cash.”  This was an oversimplification of the newly discovered uses for the sugar trim that is leftover after the last stage of trimming....

Tropical Fantasy BubbleHash has me swooning

28 April, 2017   I grew a great amount of cannabis on the roof last year.  I have provided patients with a few pounds.  However, I have mainly been doing nugruns of my flower.  I prefer concentrates (and particularly bubble hash) to flat out smoking flowers, so...

O-O joints turn Spooky Sesh into Smoky Sesh

OCTOBER 31 2017 Living in Miami Beach, Halloween was always a big deal.  Lincoln Road would become an endless river of new, bold, personal expressions that usually bordered on the extreme.  Although the people pressed upon me was a bother by the end of...

Advanced Autumnization

I am not even sure 'autumnization' is a word, but it definitely appropriate.  My Purple Trainwreck and some of my Pre-98 Bubba Kush have been undergoing a colorful transformation similar to the beautiful show the New England countryside puts on very year.  The only...

Properly dried hash has that telltale twinkle

OCTOBER 18 2018 One of the most crucial processes of hash making is drying.  Unfortunately many a dank hash washes have been ruined by less than thorough drying techniques.  A little over 3 years ago, the freeze dryer was used by forward thinking hash makers to speed...

Super Colorful Weed

JANUARY 21 2019 I love weed of every hue, but super colorful weed is positively psychedelic.  I remember the first time I had weed that was like a rainbow.  My husband, Nicholas and I were in Washington interning at WAM Oil in January 2014.  He had fallen in love with...

I have begun to make Hash from this years garden

DECEMBER 04 2017 After washing three different plants last week - Icer (bred by R-Kiem Seeds), Bloodwreck, and Rosetta Stone (bred by Gea Seeds), I feel myself getting back into the groove.  I squished hash today to make uniquely flavored hash rosin.  Pictured here...
