Properly dried hash has that telltale twinkle

One of the most crucial processes of hash making is drying. Unfortunately many a dank hash washes have been ruined by less than thorough drying techniques. A little over 3 years ago, the freeze dryer was used by forward thinking hash makers to speed the process from 7 – 14 days to about 24 hours. As with any other innovation a period of dialing in the details ensued. Along the way, I have had the first hand experience of both under and overdrying hashish. At this time, I am quite happy with my particular settings and parameters. I have noticed that when done well, freeze dried hash should break apart like baking soda. When cold, it will often appear to be brick-like. However, solid structure is just an illusion. The most minimal interaction should precipitate the solid shapes to break into light, but substantive powder. The separated resin heads sine and glisten.
However, both overly dried and under dried resin lack luster. Poorly dried hashish will be soft, like bath powder. It will not feel like discrete particles. Overdried bubble hash will be a solid brick in which the resin has molded to itself. Back before I understood how to use the freeze dryer, my resin was cooked to a crisp. Both improper situations resulted in dull hash.
Remember, look for the telltale twinkle…
