60secTech – Bubble Hash – Oil-filled trichome heads
OCTOBER 23
2018
Whether you are processing fresh frozen, fresh, or cured material for bubble hash, as a hashmaker, you are always seeking oil-filled heads. Bubble hashmaking is the efficient collection of trichome heads. Cannabis plants harvested at the peak of maturity have heads that are swollen with cannabinoids, terpenoids, and flavinoids. When great material is washed, the resulting resin will glisten like a multitude of stars. The resin sticks to itself like wet clay. It looks like a mass of greasy water balloons.
Biomass that is treated too aggressively and is over agitated will produce resin that is green and will not nearly reflect light as well. The hash will be contaminated with small flecks of plant particulate. It will appear more muted; never mind the undesirable color.
Material that was picked too early and is devoid of oil will have little substance to it. Later on, when removed from the freeze dryer, the hash will often be like puffy powder. It will be very unsatisfying and most assuredly nothing more than 2 star quality.
